Goals

Aims of National Association of Folk High Schools:

• to co-ordinate the activities of the institutions by making influence on adult education movement as such in order to develop the variety and accessibility of the non-formal education sector, providing broad possibility for different folk movements such as folk high schools, folk academies, study circle activities;


• to strengthen the position of Folk High Schools movement in non-formal adult education;


• to strengthen co-operation between FHS and other institutions of adult education;


• to stimulate the development processes of free personality, life long learning, democracy;


• to represent Lithuanian Folk High Schools in the country and abroad.

• publishes and spreads information about Folk High School movement;


• supports and organises teaching, research and consultancy service programs;


• organises seminars, training courses for Folk High Schools teachers;


• co-operates with European Folk High Schools Associations and individual Folk High Schools;


• recommends Folk High Schools’ leaders and teachers for study tours at the experience exchange programs;


• organises international seminars and conferences;


• initiates and takes part in international projects.
