Projects
This project aims to support the integration of the new residents coming from new EU accession countries into society and particularly into the workforce. It will develop new methods for Adult Education Providers to assist migrants to effectively integrate the competences and educational experiences acquired in their countries of origin into the workplace. Supporting the acquisition of ICT competencies the project will help migrants fulfil their social, cultural and career needs
MigrantICT project objectives:
- To determine the needs and to map the qualifications of migrants from Poland and Lithuania to the system in the UK and Ireland and to the European Qualifications Framework;
- To develop a model for Adult Education Providers for attracting, engaging and delivering initial adult education programmes to migrants;
- To develop tools and programmes for tutors to deliver effective programmes to Polish and Lithuanian community in the UK and Ireland;
- To prepare bilingual materials and courseware for Polish and Lithuanian learners which assist them in attaining recognition of prior learning, gaining ICT competences and improving their English language skills.
The project has developed data basis with useful links, where migrants will find more information about living in United Kingdom and Ireland (employment, social security, healthcare, education and free time). Project summary:
The partnership consists of 13 institutions from 13 European countries (Austria, Cyprus, France, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Lithania, Poland, Slovak republic, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Turkey) and covers wide range of the different types of institutions (SMEs, NGOs and universities). The selection of the different types of institutions with different approaches to education and different experiences in the area of adult education guarantee a high quality Partnership. Also from the geographical and political point of view the partnership covers wide range of old EU countries as Austria, France, Greece, Italy, Sweden, and Spain, countries entering EU in 2004 as a Hungary, Cyprus, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia and Lithuania and also Turkey that is still in pre-accession stage. The exchange of experience in the area of senior citizens education within such a partnership will bring new approaches and new sight into the adult education problems
